BIOGRAPHY

Laura Amato is an artist living and working in Rome, Italy.
Her continuing development as a painter is the result of self study and her artistic curiosity that has been enhanced by numerous travels around the world. Her artistic vision is based on creative freedom and supported by continuous personal research.
She focuses on the need to express emotions through the body language, sensitivity she acquired and refined during the many years passed studying classical ballet that has led the artist to the choice of transforming her body in the perfect medium for painting, in a unique technique that is her instinct direct expression.
Vivid colours to communicate intimate emotions, no brush used, only her body giving shapes to the human figures in the compositions mixing performance and body painting.
The artist merges in a visceral way with her creation.
As a tactile painter she likes to lay down layers of color with her body on her fingers. Doing this she likes to think that she infuses her emotions on the canvas in order to lock them.
Her distinct style is the product of the employment of various media including acrylics, collage and assemblage.
The accurate selections of the materials employed is a relevant part of her body of work: silk, feathers, chandelier’s crystals, just to name a few, merge themselves around the human figures represented. These little objects, expressing their meaning like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, help unravel the representation and, at the same time, they ground the artistic vision with their intrusions.
Inspired by intimate feelings or natural landscapes, whether figurative or abstract, her works reveal a story. Painting, collage, photography and textile art are the expressive tools with which she translates her visions on canvas.

Her artworks have been shown and awarded in domestic and international art galleries and museums such as the Piccadilly International Art Museum in Seoul, South Korea, with the french “Société des Artistes Indépendants” as well as group shows in Zurich, Montecarlo, New York, Miami, Basel and Rome.

La sua evoluzione come pittrice si deve alla fusione interiore di studi e passione per l’arte combinato con l’innata creatività ed il desiderio di raccontarsi; ed è in costante sviluppo, la sua visione artistica è fondata sulla libertà creativa ed è sostenuta da una continua ricerca personale.
La sua ricerca artistica si focalizza nell’esigenza di comunicare attraverso l’espressività del corpo: sensibilità affinata nei tanti anni dedicati allo studio della danza classica che si trasforma nella scelta di fare del proprio corpo il medium perfetto per stendere il colore, in una tecnica che è diretta espressione dell’istinto che muove l’artista.
Colori vividi per comunicare emozioni intime, senza uso del pennello, solo il suo corpo a dare forma alle figure umane delle composizioni: il corpo ricoperto di colore diventa pennello per trasferire emozioni e sensazioni imprimendosi sulla tela in una azione performativa. L’artista si fonde così in modo viscerale con la creazione.
Come pittrice tattile le piace stendere strati di colore con il corpo o con le dita. In questo modo sente di infondere le sue emozioni sulla tela per bloccarle.
Il suo stile si distingue per l’uso di vari media che includono i colori acrilici il collage e l’assemblage.
La particolare cura nella selezione dei materiali utilizzati diventa parte integrante delle sue opere: corallo, cristalli, sete, piume sono solo alcuni dei materiali più disparati che si fondono intorno alle figure nella composizione artistica. Come frammenti di un puzzle, questi piccoli oggetti si raccontano nel loro simbolismo, diventando fondamentali per la decodifica delle tematiche introspettive rappresentate e, al contempo, con la loro intrusione tridimensionale, ancorano al mondo reale la visione artistica.
Ispirate da sentimenti intimi o da panorami naturali, sia che siano figurative che astratte, le sue opere rivelano una storia. La pittura, il collage, la fotografia e l’arte tessile sono gli strumenti espressivi con i quali traduce su tela le sue visioni.

Oltre a Roma, dove Laura Amato vive e lavora, le sue opere sono state recentemente esposte in mostre personali e collettive in musei e gallerie d’arte nazionali ed internazionali, come il Piccadilly International Art Museum a Seoul con la francese “Société des Artistes Indépendants”, a Montecarlo, New York, Miami, Basilea.
